Welcome to the Harker House!

The Harker family invites you to step back in time and experience life in Storm Lake through three generations of Harkers. The Harker family started construction on their stately home in 1874 before moving in to the home in 1875. Through three generations of family members the home and many of the family heirlooms have been maintained and preserved for future generations.

You are invited to come and visit, see exquisite examples of fine walnut furniture and learn about Victorian era life in this historic home.

Located on the southwest corner of 3rd Street and Lake Avenue in beautiful Storm Lake this home is not only a view into the Harker Family but also a piece of Storm Lake history having seen the community grow and prosper.

The home is open for tours on a regular schedule, please visit our Tour Schedule page for details on upcoming tours. In addition, we invite to you learn more about the Harker Family and Storm Lake with our historic pages here on our web page. A key highlight of these pages is the Civil War Sketches book which contains individual accounts from over two dozen civil war veterans in Buena Vista County.

We look forward to your visit!
